Capt. Rick Hartman and I take a break from guiding and visit one of our favorite fly fishing venues on the Lower Laguna Madre of south Texas. Rick, who is a world champion fly caster, sight casts to reds that are snaking through bootie deep, algae-filled water. We encounter a variety of wildlife, including a baby rattlesnake, a flock of roseate spoonbills feeding among the redfish, and a community of reddish egrets stalking the flat.
