Sorry so late, been on the road doing apperances. Thanks for the post on my page and hopefully you can come down and fish with us. We are catching like crazy right now and it will only get better as the weather warms.
Black drum and Red drum are just sub species of the same fish, both have same texture and cook up very well. It is a firm mild flavored meat. They are great fried, broiled or grilled! If you buy it sometimes the Black drum is less expensive. Ignore…
I usually throw back any sheepshead I catch but I keep every drum I can. The closer to the 14" mark the better the eating. Drum have a texture very similar to red fish. They are very good eating.
Black drum is one of my favorites, you felet them like any other fish, careful to remove the bones from the rib area and fry, bake, broil or even grill them with your favorite seasonings. Sheepshead are the same except be careful when feleting them…
i have heard mixed conversation about sheeps head and black drum are they good to eat and hoy do you clean and cook them? is there something special on how to prepare them?
