4/30/09 - Halibut Friday!

In advance of the most recent storm that arrived yesterday morning. The bay was calm, the skies were threatening until about 3:00pm and then the rain actually arrived. The temp was balmy at 65 degrees and the water temp was 56. We started the day off by following a school of bait, birds (turns) just outside the Coyote Point harbor and snagged a small ray. (Good luck). Then we ventured farther north towards the Bird Cage trolling with the outgoing tide at 5 knot's. That's when we caught the…See More

Halibut - 4/09

Posted on April 13, 2009 at 11:30am 0 Comments

We saw about six confirmed catches (other boats trolling around us) of keeper Halibut while trolling the Bird Cage off of the Airport. We were trolling in about 10 feet of water using long, skinny and shinny double treble hooked lures. This 25+ Lbs. Halibut (Captain Bob) was caught at the tail end of a weather disturbance that blew through NorCal at about 3:00pm in the afternoon of 4/23. As long as the water is green, the Halibut fishing in SF bay continues to rock!

Sturgeon Report - San Francisco Bay

Posted on March 12, 2009 at 12:00pm 1 Comment

Unfortunately, the big guys are hanging out up river in Sasoon Bay and further up in the Delta. Our experience last week was one of debris and big tides. We saw lawn chairs and debris headed out the gate. Kind of sad. But the water was flying by on a 8 foot tide. No action on Ghost and Mud Shrimp (live). We hear the halibut is still hot, so there you go.

Anybody else experience something different?
