Good Luck on the redfish - let me know how you did. Sorry you're having trouble with the Johnson - I know I always did. I have a friend that just bought 2 new Evinrude Etecs. He has put only 14 hours on them and is already having problems and had to take back to the shop. I know the Evinrudes are different now but I still think of Evinrude and Johnson as the same motors.

Yeah - I'm thinking the clearer water may actually have them trapped in the sound until the bay cleans up. Good luck on the engine. I don't know what type you're getting but I would recommend Yamaha. My engine is 10 years old and I put lots of hours every year on it. It's never given me any problems. I've had Johnson, Mercury, and Evinrude motors in the past and none have been as dependable as the Yamaha. Have a good week and we'll try to get 'em next weekend.

No - I didn't go this weekend because the wind was too much and I didn't want to get beat up. I have to cross the bay from Bayou Grande and the bay can be brutal trying to make the cross in a small boat. I could have towed the boat to shorline park but I thought it would still be miserable. I'll get 'em next weekend. I am curious about the water in the sound. Is it clearer than in the bay? It may be holding spanish because of all the dirty fresh water in the bay right now.

Thanks Norma Jean - I appreciate the info. Don't worry - I wont jump in on your spot. They should be doing the same thing in other areas close by.

Thanks Norma Jean. Are they throwing artificials or live bait and are they schooling on the surface or down deeper?

Norma Jean - where are you seeing the spanish at? I know that this time of year they will sometimes feed on shrimp near some of the grass beds in the bay and sound.

Thanks - I like catching Blacktips in August. They typically run the beaches by the hundreds then. It's fun to sight cast to them.
