Hi Bill... if you are coming to the Ft Myers area, there is NO OIL HERE!! The beaches are still pristine! If you are planning on going out deep sea fishing on the gulf, that is when you may run into problems. But local fishing is FINE. The reason fo…
My son had to be rescued by the Coast Guard today! Thankfully everyone is fine and all turned out ok, but he has a VERY VERY humbling lesson learned!! He just won a really neat, 5-6 man raft/boat, and had taken it out this afternoon WITH his 4 yr ol…
Anyone know if you are allowed to fish at any part of the beach at Siesta Key? I'd like to go to the beach, hubby would like to fish too.. would be nice if we could do both :) Only been to Siesta Key once.
Hey Grayson..as much as I'd love to tell you I'm catching all those great big fishing.. I have found myself in school... back to college and just VERY little time to fish now. My hubby however has been out every chance he's got..and off shore in Por…

Yes, it is a cobia in the photo. I caught it out of Port Canaveral about 6 months ago. Also, when I speak of catching Dolphin, I am refering to Mahi-Mahi. Although I have had some fishing situations where the porposes have moved in (spoiling the fishing) and made me mad enough to want to grill one up, flipper is still safe and sound. Tight lines!!
Why kill the small shark that you have pictures of? It looks as though it may have only been around 2 feet long. Dont understand what you could get out of it.
Thanks for the tip Mindy. Sure is a mess as the spill occurred while trailering the boat for quite a distance and didn't discover it for almost an hour and unfortunately it spread from the bow to the stern! :(
I too have been the victim of a sailcat sting. Very painful indeed! My hand swelled up to the size of a blown up rubber glove within minutes and last for almost three hours before beginning to return to normal size and very painful for hours afterwards. I handle them now of course very carefully and make sure I position my fingers so that they staddle the base of the fins. I also now carry with me "Benadryl' EXTRA STRENGTH Spray. You can buy it over the counter at Walmart or any drug store and comes in a handy 2 oz plastic spray container that fits easily into a tackle box or pocket. Strictly a temporary "somewhat" relief from the pain. I now just cut them off at the hook most of the time. :)
That is a 42lb Gag Grouper caught off Sebastian Inlet on a hump in 110 ft of water. Threw down a 5 inch cigar minnow, and came up with a 3lb blue runner. Switched rods and threw down the blue runner and this blackbelly nailed it. 100lb main line and 150lb leader and a pinned drag got this fish up. If not for that he might still be swimming around there somewhere. Helluva fight.
