Kona

I will be in Kona first 2 weeks in July, does anyone have any suggestions for fishing then - specifically what type of fishing may be good then and any boats/captains that you would recommend. I'm open for most any type of fishing, will have a10 year old with me also, thanks

There is always some small tunas around for the kids and the big ahi are in full swing as are the marlin. Check out my web site at FISHINGKONASTYLE.COM and you can see the boat.

hi
this is chuck with www.konacharterboat.com i am a charter boat in kona. and marlin fishing is good this time of year. the problem with share charters is there will be 6 to 8 other people on boat. ther maybe only 2 fish caught and your odds go way down on catching. i know some people are on a budget but if you can afford it get a private boat. all rods and fish are yours.

Doug, the last two years I have fished with Sea wife 11 charters. They are the only one in Kona that books single person charters. All of the others you have charter your own boat at around $600.00 a day! Sea Wife books half day trips AM or PM at $98.00 a person. Ride alongs (non fishing) are I believe $40.00 You leave about 7am and return at 11:30 I've never taken an afternoon trip. It's a nice boat and nice people. Also, we have stayed at the Kona Makia condos. It is an excellant place! We absolutley love it there. You can do a search of Kona Makia condos in Hawaii and get all kinds of info. The first year we used Abbey rentals and this year we used Prince Properties. If you want I can e-mail you some pics of the place. Anyway, here are some web sites. Seawifecharters.com and Konaoceanfronts.com If you have any other questions feel free to contact me. Bob Shinn
