I'd fished with Bob long enough to trust his opinion. As skipper of a salmon seiner since he was 19, I figured 25 seasons qualified this observation when a pod of atleast 50 Blue whales came down the coast toward our open net. It takes about 20 or 30 minutes to haul it in if we're lucky so we got busy. Don't want to catch one of these blues by mistake! Afterwards he said he'd never seen so many whales in his life. I believe our nations conservation efforts have paid off here!
