Are there any reports from the Dauphin Island/Ft. Morgan area?

Art walk's free wine busted my fishing trip this morning.  Yesterday's fishing was nothing compared to the stringers coming out of the surf today.  Hope I have a fish report tomorrow.

I did do some surf fishing in Freeport last Saturday, had to net my own live shrimp, got a few... every bait shop was out of live shrimp by 6:30am, the beach was packed time dawn hit. Every time I through a shrimp I got hit within seconds. We came home with two smackers and a few specks. Caught allot of small specks then sun killed it.

If you want a wall class tarpon, try the surf a little ways north of the Port Aransas Jetties on a calm night.  There are some 8 and 9 footers rolling around near Cedar Bayou surf.

Fishing Rockport lately is tough, due to the extreme heat.  The best fishing is at dawn, coinciding with the moon phase and tides.  I like fishing falling tides along the spoil banks, where little cut and channels empty fish out of back lakes.  The topwater bite is still good early am.  Most keeper trout are holding around the wells in the big bays on the shell at midday.  Reds? shoot anytime is best for them, find the mullet and you will find the reds.  Cut Mullet, cracked blue crab will work almost always.

Sounds like everyone here are catching some fish and enjoying the outdoors.  On the West coast of Florida we are catching some trout and redfish but it has to be early in the morning or in 8-10 feet of water for the keeper trout.

Spence, I have been fishing some in Rockport area and it has been tough.  I think the heat has something to do with it to be honest.  The early morning seems to the best if you ask me.  I went down to Mansfield two weeks ago and saw thousands of tarpon just outside the jetties..  It was amazing.  I want to get to the Port Aransas jetties and see if the same thing is happening.  Let's get this group going more. Good fishing to all!

the beach front is the best it's been all year, beautiful calm clear water.  My son and I were watching all the bait fish leave the water at the pier they're redoing around 89th street.  Lots of fish working there.  This was on our drive home to the west end.  Lots of people fishing and lots of people catching.  He's in the surf now and I would be too if not for a migraine.  You gotta hit the surf at sunrise and will probably have your limit in no time.  Then fish it again in the evening, like you said, too hot, but we most always have a nice little breeze.  He and his dad fished the jetties yesterday and we had specs for supper, dad took the flounder home.  We fished Moses Lake last night for about an hour and only cleaned two specs.  The trout were tearing up the water but didn't want the lures.  We probably needed live bait.  I think we'll be seeing some nice fishing for a while.  Good luck and if you come down don't forget your hat.
