In the Lagoon, the water has been high, dirty and full of floating weeds, making sight fishing hard. The reds I have seen have been cruising close to the shorelines. The bridges in New Smyrna, Ponce Inlet jetties and Haulover Canal have been producing some over slot reds.

Hey Frank, nice to see a report from Oak Hill. We stayed there for a week in March. Had a blast caught some big Black Drum. The Reds had lock jaw though. Beautiful area.

(Jan., Feb., &) March is when the shrimp are running, and there's no better eating. Most places castnet shrimp, but in a couple mile stretch of the ICW, we use green florescent lights (sunk to the bottom in 10 -12' of water) and use dip nets to scoop them as they are back lit by the lights while they're heading out to sea to spawn. It's like shrimp pingball!
Heading down that way middle of May with a couple of buddies from high school. Unfortunately, there is a shuttle launch scheduled that will keep us from camping on our usual spoil island since it's east of the intercoastal and therefore off limits for 72 hrs prior to the launch. So, we are looking at staying over in the ML on one of the "rental" islands. Will be a good excuse to explore some new water. Can't wait to pole up on some good reds again.
Mosquito lagoon has always been productive from all the reports I read from there.
