We had a great day fishing lake Raccouci this weekend.  We caught specks and reds. the weather was about as good as it gets. District%2015-20110911-00258.jpg

Haven't been here in awhile.  We have been going down to the camp in Leeville and catching some fish.  we didn't go last weekend because of TS Lee.  the water didn't get in our camper but it got about 18 inches in the boat shed.  We are going this weekend to straighten out the boat shed and do a little fishing in this fine weather we are having.

There is going to be the Uplifting the Coast festival in Grand Isle this weekend.  There will be a lot of bands playing starting Friday evening and it is all free.  Y'all come down.

Hillary,
From your comment below: "I expect that the same / similar fish are found all along the Louisiana Gulf Coast."
Cameron is vastly different to Venice. For one, you can get to deep water within 15 miles of the end of the MS river, The Calacscieu river (cameron) is very different. More like 50 miles to break 100' depth. I'm wondering if anyone hits Kingfish, Ling (Cobia) or Wahoo anywhere within 30 miles of Cameron.

we need to all contact the Governor and ask him to reopen the coast to recreational fisherman. closing it off is not doing anybody any good. if the oil is thick in an area you can close that till you get it out. but lots of the area that is closed has little to no oil.

we caught some night fishing in Leeville on the 21st. the area was closed the next day. since then we have moved our camper out of Leeville at the request of the landlord. they are using the site for a staging area for the cleanup crews. :(

or the past month we have been getting our camper set up in Leeville, LA. have been doing a little fishing and catching enough to eat. leaving this afternoon to head down. A couple of friends and I will be taking my boat, REEL FUN, out tonight to fish for specks. I have two 400 watt High pressure sodium and one 500 watt metal Haylide light. this will be the first time to night fish down in Leeville. there is not much tide and it is outgoing tonight, which is not optimal but we are going to give it a try anyway because the oil my migrate up and we wont be able to.
