Me and my fishing buddies have had a long running argument over seperating all your different colored swim baits, to keeping all different colors together. I actually due both...i have some specific swim bait colors that i keep seperate from others, then i have some swim baits of all sorts of various colors that are all mixed together...i was taught let your swimbaits bleed...so i was wondering what everyone else take on this was?

wow, i guess this is a personal preference type of question. personally i seperate, but this is all about confidence. not that ive noticed one outfishes the other, i think i tend to fish the non mixed plastic swimbait better which to me im confident with, whereas i have a mixed color swimbait and mentally i believe its flawed. therefore i dont think i fish it as effectively. bottom line ( presentation), i fish the bait i have confidence in harder and im more willing to fish and change the presentation with the confidence bait, (i can pattern the bite, while the other swimbait has long since been put away. hope this was of some help, tim s
I mix them... colors tend to blend and greyout underwater anyways. I think they see more patterns than colors.
I've had them actually melt together when they were mixed. Not sure if it's a chemical thing or what.
i separate them because i want to have the color i bought. mostly white
I prefer to keep mine seperate just in case of bleeding. the one thing I havealso experienced is when u leave a colored jighead in a swimbait it will bleed into the plastic. But it might also depend on the brand of the plastic or head.
if you dont want the colors to bleed keep them separate however, some brands do not bleed specifically MC Swimbaits they do not bleed ....ever
I say keep them clean. Use the ones that bleed together for rockfish or on dirty water days.
For clean clear water you want the most natural looking baits you have.
